Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Reports To: Site Supervisor / Foreman / Project Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, site preparation, roadwork, or related projects. This role involves operating equipment safely and efficiently to complete tasks according to project specifications and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, rollers, or skid steers, depending on the project.
Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure safe and proper functioning.
Follow site plans, blueprints, and verbal directions from supervisors.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Load and unload materials and equipment as required.
Assist with minor maintenance or adjustments on equipment.
Communicate clearly with site supervisors and other crew members.
Adhere to all OSHA and company-specific safety standards and regulations.
Keep accurate records of work completed, hours operated, and any issues with equipment.

Qualifications:

Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction, excavation, or related fields.
Ability to read and understand site plans, grade stakes, and blueprints.
Knowledge of standard operating procedures and safety guidelines for heavy machinery.
Strong attention to detail and situational awareness on active job sites.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required for some roles.
Certification or training in heavy equipment operation (NCCER, OSHA, etc.) preferred.
Physically fit with the ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various outdoor conditions.
Must pass a drug test and background check if required.
